Momenta Share Price Surges 6% in Hong Kong Trading Debut
TMTPOST — Autonomous driving software developer Momenta Global Limited made its trading debut on the Hong Kong bourses on Wednesday, with its stock opening over 6% higher to surpass a HK$70 billion ($8.93 billion) market capitalization.
The company priced its initial public offering at the top end of its marketed range at HK$295.60 ($37.69) per share, raising total proceeds of approximately HK$6.8 billion ($867 million) assuming the full exercise of its over-allotment option. Institutional and retail demand triggered heavy oversubscription metrics, with the domestic retail tranche covered 414 times over and the international offering drawing more than HK$100 billion ($12.75 billion) in institutional book orders. This broad international order book represented sovereign wealth managers and long-only investment funds across 15 countries and regions, alongside prominent cornerstone backers including Singapore's GIC, BlackRock, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
Capital is flowing selectively toward platform developers capable of commercializing advanced driver-assistance systems as automotive manufacturers on the Chinese mainland look to secure localized third-party technology providers. Momenta's listing provides a critical liquidity benchmark for the autonomous driving sector following an era of compressed late-stage private valuations and persistent cash-burn constraints. Because independent intelligent driving solution providers face intense domestic pricing pressure and high data-processing costs, public market access remains vital to sustain the massive artificial intelligence computing infrastructure necessary to refine urban navigation algorithms and scale global robotaxi operations.
