BEIJING, August 10 (TMTPOST) — China became the biggest domestic aviation market for the first time in 2020, according to a report from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The report states that COVID-19 had brought about a devastating impact on the global aviation industry. According to IATA’s statistics, the air passenger traffic in 2020 fell by over 60% to 1.8 billion passengers when compared with the 4.5 billion passengers in 2019. Overall worldwide demand for air travel slipped by 65.9% year-on-year while the international segment saw a 75.6% decrease compared to 2019. The domestic air travel demand fell nearly by 50%.
