Chengdu in Southwestern China Lifts Home Purchase Restrictions
BEIJING, September 27 (TMTPost) – Chengdu, the capital of southwestern China’s Sichuan province, has scrapped home buying qualification requirements in some districts to prop up the sagging property market. It became another city that joined a raft of second-tier cities that removed home purchase limits, including Nanjing and Guangzhou. The metropolis, with a population of nearly 10 million, removed purchase restrictions in five districts and relaxed them in seven others, according to a notice issued Tuesday by the city’s housing and urban-rural development bureau. Reference prices for pre-owned housing was also dropped. They were introduced to rein in speculation after housing prices skyrocketed in in 2020.
