LAGUNA BEACH, California, October 17 (TMTPost) — Artificial intelligence will likely disrupt the workforce, killing many jobs and requiring a new perspective to work, tech leaders said Tuesday. AI could make some people’s life worse if they define themselves by work since many jobs will be eliminated, said OpenAI CTO Mira Murati at The Wall Street Live Tech. She also noted that it could be a good thing as people don’t have to work eight hours a day and they may work only four hours a day given that AI improves productivity. “It’s certainly going to lead to lots of destruction in the workforce” said Murati. “We don’t know exactly the scale of that or its projectory along the way.” They are working hard to make AI cheaper and bring the technology to the world as widely accessible as possible, said xxx. People interact with AI to change their way of life. Sam Altman was upbeat about the impact of AI on society. “Every technological revolution affects the job market,” he said, adding that every hundreds of years, people lose their jobs due to a new technology but they would find better jobs. Over two generations or about 50 years, the society can adapt to that change, said Altman.
