Domestic Sales Revenue of Chinese Games Drops 3.3% in First Half
TMTPOST--The sales revenue of China-made games within the country fell by 3.3% to 117.7 billion yuan (US$16.2 billion) in the first half of this year, primarily due to declining income from several leading older products. Despite this, overall gaming sales revenue in China increased by 2.1% to 147.3 billion yuan in the six months ended June 30, compared to the same period last year, according to a report released today by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association. The report also indicated a contraction in China's two-dimensional and casual mobile games markets. Revenue from two-dimensional games decreased by 5.4% to 15.8 billion yuan (US$2.2 billion), mainly because several older major games had reached their lifecycle end. Casual mobile games saw a revenue decline of 4%, dropping to 16 billion yuan.
