CrowdStrike CEO Says 97% of Sensors Affected by Outage Back Online
TMTPOST--CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. CEO George Kurtz announced in a LinkedIn post on Thursday that over 97% of the company's Falcon agent sensors running on Windows are now back online. The company experienced a major setback on July 19 when a flawed software update caused millions of computers to crash, leading to a global IT outage that disrupted flights, closed businesses, and halted market activities. The outage, which lasted for days, caused an estimated $5.4 billion in damages to Fortune 500 companies, according to Parametrix. Since the incident, CrowdStrike's shares have dropped by approximately 25%. CrowdStrike has been working to resolve the issue, which they attributed to an error in a quality-assurance tool used to screen updates. The bug, which was not the result of a cyberattack or security breach, impacted more than 8.5 million Windows users, according to Microsoft Corp.
