Elon Musk Predicts Millions Could Have Brain Chips Within a Decade
TMTPOST– Neuralink, the brain-machine interface startup founded by Elon Musk, has provided an update on its Prime research project. The company revealed that last month, Alex, the second participant in the Prime study, underwent a successful Neuralink implant surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute. The procedure went smoothly, and Alex was discharged the following day in good health. Since receiving the implant, Alex has been enhancing his ability to play video games and has begun learning how to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 3D objects. This development marks a significant step forward in providing high-performance interfaces, which aim to improve control over digital devices and help individuals with paralysis regain their autonomy. Elon Musk responded to the update by stating that if everything goes as planned, hundreds of people could have Neuralink brain chips implanted within the next few years, potentially reaching thousands within five years and millions within a decade.
