Chinese Software Industry Seeks "Second Growth Curve" Through Global Expansion
TMTPOST – China’s software and information technology service industry is experiencing strong momentum, with both revenue and profit posting double-digit growth in the first half of 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Software exports reached $25.46 billion during this period, marking a 0.6% year-on-year growth, a notable recovery from previous declines.
The recently disclosed mid-year reports from publicly listed software companies highlight that expanding into overseas markets has become a strategic priority, offering a "second growth curve" for many enterprises. Companies are increasingly venturing into Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, with some having established a foothold in these regions over several years. As Chinese enterprises continue to provide software services globally, they are beginning to see returns on these long-term investments.
In addition to geographical expansion, Chinese software firms are capitalizing on opportunities presented by innovative technologies such as large AI models. Many are partnering with platform giants like Huawei and Alibaba to extend their reach into global markets, leveraging cutting-edge developments in AI and other advanced technologies to drive growth.
