Vietnamese Police Raid Tech Firm VNG in 'Surprise Investigation'
TMTPOST--Vietnamese police conducted a raid on Friday at the Ho Chi Minh City headquarters of VNG, one of the country's leading tech start-ups, in what the company described as a "surprise investigation." VNG released a statement confirming that the investigation was still ongoing and that it was cooperating fully with the authorities, ensuring compliance with all requests. Despite the investigation, the company assured that its business operations would continue as usual. The statement did not reveal the reason for the investigation, and attempts to contact the police for comment were unsuccessful. According to a source familiar with the matter, the investigation also involves two related companies: Zion JSC and Thanh Son Communication Co. In a separate statement on Saturday, VNG announced the appointment of Kelly Wong as acting general manager. However, the company did not clarify whether Wong would be replacing Le Hong Minh, the founder and current general manager, in this new role.
