Elon Musk's X Evades Brazilian Ban with Software Update
Asianfin--Elon Musk’s X managed to circumvent a Brazilian ban on the social media platform by implementing a software update, according to a statement from the Brazilian Association of Internet and Telecommunications Providers (ABRINT) on Wednesday.
Access to X unexpectedly resumed for many users in Brazil overnight, following a Supreme Court order last month that had blocked the platform in a dispute with Musk. Brazilian users were surprised to find X operational again on their devices, leading to speculation about whether the court's ruling had been overturned.
ABRINT later clarified that the update involved X shifting its infrastructure to use IP addresses linked to Cloudflare, a San Francisco-based cybersecurity company. Cloudflare, which supports millions of websites, aids in routing internet traffic for its clients.
