New iPhone 16 Launched in Russia as Retailers Skirt Apple's Export Ban
Asianfin--Russian retailers have begun pre-sales of Apple's latest iPhone 16, bypassing the company's export ban to Russia. This move allows consumers to pre-order the devices at prices significantly higher than those in the United States. Leading electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado and mobile network operator MTS announced on Thursday that they are the first in Russia to offer the new iPhone 16. M.Video stated that deliveries would start next week, while MTS anticipated physical sales to commence shortly. Apple suspended all product sales in Russia in March 2022 and discontinued services like Apple Pay in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, amid Western sanctions aimed at limiting technology exports to the country.
