OpenAI May Increase ChatGPT Subscription Price to $22 by 2025, $44 by 2029
Asianfin--ChatGPT users could soon face higher subscription fees, with OpenAI reportedly planning price hikes in the coming years. According to The New York Times, citing internal OpenAI documents, the company aims to raise the monthly fee for its ChatGPT Plus service from the current $20 to $22 by the end of 2025. By 2029, the price could rise further to $44 per month. These planned increases reflect growing pressure from investors for OpenAI to reduce its significant losses. Despite generating $300 million in monthly revenue as of August, the company is projected to incur a $5 billion loss this year. Rising costs, including staffing, office space, and maintaining the AI infrastructure, contribute to the financial strain. At one point, ChatGPT alone was reportedly costing OpenAI $700,000 per day to operate.
