Huawei Unveils New Brain-Computer Interface Chip Patent
Asianfin--A patent titled "Method for Controlling a Stimulator, Stimulator, Brain-Computer Interface System, and Chip" was published on the website of China's National Intellectual Property Administration. The patent, attributed to Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., outlines a method for controlling a stimulator, along with details on the stimulator, brain-computer interface (BCI) system, and chip. This follows a previous patent released by Huawei in June 2023, titled "Brain-Computer Interface Device and Information Acquisition Method." Additionally, in September, Huawei signed a collaboration agreement with Chinasoft International Education Technology Group and Zhejiang Qiangnao Technology Co., Ltd. to establish an AI Innovation and Training Center focused on neuro-electrical signals. This initiative aims to nurture talent and foster research within the BCI industry. Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology enables direct communication between the brain and external devices, allowing brain signals to control devices like computers, prosthetics, or wheelchairs without the need for muscle activity. BCI has broad applications, including aiding individuals with disabilities, neurorehabilitation, entertainment, education, smart living, medical research, and disease diagnosis.
