McKinsey Slashes Hundreds of Jobs in China Unit
Asianfin -- U.S.-based consulting firm McKinsey is restructuring its China operations, reportedly cutting about 500 jobs—approximately one-third of its workforce in the region—following a reduction in government-linked clients, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.   The company is working to separate its China unit from its global operations in an effort to mitigate security risks associated with doing business in the country, the report stated, citing sources familiar with the situation.   Over the past two years, McKinsey has significantly decreased its workforce in Greater China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, with hundreds of employees laid off. In June 2023, the firm had nearly 1,500 employees listed on its Greater China website.
