Disney to Pay Over $500 Million to Replace CBS as GRAMMY Awards Broadcaster
TMTPOST -- The Walt Disney Company has reportedly agreed to pay more than $500 million over the next decade to become the new broadcast partner for the GRAMMY Awards, ending CBS's over 50-year run as the event’s broadcaster.
Under the terms of the agreement with the Recording Academy, starting in 2027, Disney’s ABC network, along with streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, will simultaneously broadcast the GRAMMY Awards. Additionally, the Recording Academy will create special programming and other new shows exclusively for Disney's platforms.
Sources indicate Disney’s deal surpasses CBS’s current costs, with CBS planning to pay $50 million for the broadcast rights in 2026, as part of an escalating annual payment structure.
