Russian Court Fines Google More Than World’s GDP
TMTPOST -- A Russian court has determined that Google owes approximately $20 decillion in fines to Russian media outlets for blocking their content, and this amount could potentially increase. For context, the World Bank estimates global GDP to be around $100 trillion, which pales in comparison to the prospective fine. In effect, Google would need to locate more funds than are available on Earth to settle its debt with Moscow. However, on Tuesday, the company reported $88 billion in quarterly revenue, falling significantly short of that staggering figure.
