China's First Women's Apparel Stock La Chapelle Officially Delisted from Hong Kong Stock Exchange
TMTPOST -- La Chapelle, China's first publicly listed women's apparel company, officially delisted from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on November 14. This follows an announcement from Xinjiang La Chapelle Fashion Co., Ltd., which is undergoing bankruptcy restructuring, stating that its shares would be delisted at 9 a.m. on November 14, 2024, in accordance with Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing rules. The company’s stock had been suspended from trading since February 7, 2023, and failed to resume trading by August 6, 2024. The Hong Kong Exchange noted that La Chapelle had not met the guidelines required for resumption, leading the Listing Committee to decide on August 23, 2024, to cancel its listing. The Listing Review Committee upheld this decision on November 1, 2024. Founded in 1998, La Chapelle was the first apparel company in China to be listed both on the A-share market and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. At its peak, the company owned over 20 brands, including LaChapelle, Puella, and Candie's, and operated nearly 10,000 stores. La Chapelle was once considered the "Chinese version of ZARA." In 2022, the company had already been delisted from the A-share market.
