Adani Dollar Bonds Drop Following US Bribery Charges
TMTPOST -- Adani Group's dollar-denominated bonds experienced a significant drop in early Asia trading on Thursday after the Indian conglomerate's billionaire chairman was indicted in New York on charges of bribery and fraud.
According to LSEG data, the price of Adani Port and Special Economic Zone bonds maturing in August 2027 fell by more than five cents on the dollar.
Adani Electricity Mumbai bonds, due in February 2030, saw a nearly eight-cent decline, while bonds from Adani Transmission also dropped more than five cents, trading just above 80 cents.
These price declines marked the largest since February 2023, following a report from short-seller Hindenburg Research that raised concerns over the group's debt levels and its use of tax havens.
