Asia's Largest Agrivoltaic Project Officially Commences Operation
TMTPOST — The first phase of Asia's largest agrivoltaic project, the China Power Agritech Kekedala Billion-Dollar Agrivoltaic Super Ranch, has officially been completed and put into operation. Constructed by PowerChina, this groundbreaking project sets a new standard for integrating agriculture with solar power generation.
The project is divided into three phases, with the first phase covering an area of 9,380 acres. It includes facilities such as cattle fattening barns, an animal health center, a total mixed ration center, a booster station, and transmission lines. The cattle fattening barns alone cover 1.5 million square meters, supporting a breeding capacity of 100,000 cattle and an annual output of 200,000 cattle. This scale positions the super ranch as Asia’s largest agrivoltaic industrial cluster.
The super ranch features a dual-component solar power setup, comprising photovoltaic panels on the roofs of cattle barns and ground-mounted panels in grassland areas. The total installed photovoltaic capacity reaches 398 megawatts.
This innovative project not only fills a technical gap in China's agrivoltaic super ranch model but also sets a benchmark for sustainable integration of renewable energy and agriculture in the region.
