De Beers, the World's Largest Diamond Producer, Reportedly Slashes Prices by 10-15%
TMTPOST -- De Beers, the world's largest diamond producer, has reportedly reduced the prices of most of its products by 10% to 15%, according to sources familiar with the matter. This marks the first significant price cut since the beginning of the year, with the reductions being described as historically rare. The price cuts come as De Beers' parent company, Anglo American, seeks to exit the diamond business after successfully fending off a $49 billion acquisition attempt by BHP earlier this year. Despite the substantial price reduction, insiders indicate that De Beers diamonds still remain more expensive than those available on the secondary market.
