TikTok Shop Launches in Spain and Ireland as Part of European Expansion
TMTPOST -- TikTok has officially launched its in-app shopping feature in Spain and Ireland, marking the beginning of a broader European rollout for ByteDance Ltd.’s rapidly growing e-commerce business.
The TikTok Shop debuted on Tuesday, with creators in both countries setting up digital stores and linking products, ranging from electric fryers to health supplements, to their videos.
This expansion is part of TikTok’s strategy to explore alternative markets amid concerns over a potential ban in the United States. Last week, a federal appeals court upheld the Biden administration’s law requiring the Chinese-owned app to either divest or face a ban, citing national security risks.
In Spain, TikTok Shop offers a variety of products across categories such as beauty, home appliances, and fast-moving consumer goods, with prices ranging from €3 ($3.16) to €60. Meanwhile, in Ireland, local businesses are using the platform to sell items like books and cosmetics.
