Tenstorrent and Hyundai-Backed BOS Semiconductors Unveil Automotive AI Chips
TMTPOST — Canadian AI chip startup Tenstorrent and South Korea’s BOS Semiconductors, backed by Hyundai Motor Group, have jointly introduced new artificial intelligence (AI) chips designed for in-vehicle infotainment and autonomous driving systems. As vehicles increasingly evolve into “computers on wheels,” the demand for high-performance AI chips to support complex features has surged. The newly unveiled chips represent the industry’s first “automotive chiplet AI accelerator,” according to Park Jae-hong, founder of BOS Semiconductors. Chiplets, which are modular components akin to LEGO blocks, can be combined into larger systems. This allows automakers to customize chip configurations to their needs while lowering costs by updating specific functionalities rather than entire systems, Park explained. BOS Semiconductors is reportedly in discussions with unnamed German automakers to supply the chips, branded as "Eagle-N." The products are set to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and enter mass production by late 2026.
