IDG Capital Removed From Pentagon's List of Entities With Ties to China's Military
TMTPOST – IDG Capital, one of the oldest venture capital firms in China, has been removed from the U.S. Department of Defense's list of organizations with alleged ties to China's military. The decision, announced on December 17, follows the company's previous inclusion on the list due to concerns over its association with Chinese military entities.
IDG Capital, along with SMIC Semiconductor Equipment (Shanghai), was originally added to the Chinese Military Companies List (CMC List, or 1260H List) under Section 1260H of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act. This inclusion led to reputational damage and potential restrictions on the companies' international business activities.
With its removal, IDG Capital no longer faces the formal U.S. designation as being linked to the Chinese military, which is expected to alleviate some of the negative impacts on its global operations.
