Google CEO Praises DeepSeek, Pledges Increased AI Investment
TMTPOST – Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has praised DeepSeek’s work as “outstanding” and announced a substantial increase in the company’s investment in artificial intelligence (AI).
In its latest earnings report, Alphabet revealed plans to raise capital expenditures to $75 billion in 2024, a 42% increase, to accelerate its AI development.
Alphabet believes that the declining cost of AI will drive demand for its services, rather than devaluing them to the point of threatening its business model. With billions of users, the company expects to benefit from the surge in AI-powered applications.
“We are very excited about the opportunities AI presents. The actual cost of using AI will continue to decline, making more applications feasible. We are in a position to drive exceptional use cases,” Pichai said.
“This is where the opportunity lies—there is massive potential. That’s why we are choosing to invest heavily and seize this moment,” he added.
