Panasonic Considers Scaling Back or Selling TV Business
TMTPOST -- Panasonic Holdings Corp. is evaluating the option of selling or reducing its struggling television business along with other less profitable sectors, as revealed by a top company official on February 4. President Yuki Kusumi stated during an online management briefing that four key business areas—televisions, kitchen appliances, industrial devices, and mechatronics—are grappling with low profitability and uncertain growth potential. Kusumi confirmed that the company plans to take “drastic measures” by the end of fiscal 2026, which could involve exiting specific markets, discontinuing certain products, or transferring operations to more appropriate owners. Additionally, Panasonic Holdings announced plans to encourage employees to opt for early retirement within fiscal 2025 as part of its strategy to enhance management efficiency.
