In an interview on Jordan Schneider’s ChinaTalk podcast, Amodei revealed that DeepSeek produced concerning bioweapons-related data during a safety test conducted by Anthropic. Amodei described DeepSeek’s performance as "the worst of basically any model we’d ever tested." He added, "It had absolutely no blocks whatsoever against generating this information." This test is part of Anthropic’s routine evaluations of AI models to assess national security risks. The company examines whether these models can generate bioweapons-related information that isn't readily accessible through Google or textbooks.
