Exclusive: MagicBot Develops 11-Degree-of-Freedom Self-Designed Dexterous Hand With 20+ kg Load Capacity
TMTPOST -- MagicBot, a company focused on embodied AI robots, has successfully developed its first-generation self-designed dexterous hand product, MagicHand S01. The hand boasts 11 degrees of freedom and can handle a load of up to 5 kg in typical operations, with a maximum load capacity exceeding 20 kg in specific work scenarios. Dexterous hands are a crucial component of humanoid robots (a human hand typically has 21 degrees of freedom, with an additional 6 degrees for wrist joint movement, totaling 27). However, robot hands are often simplified for specific use cases. The performance and cost of these hands are largely influenced by three core components: drive systems, transmission mechanisms, and sensing devices. MagicBot chose to develop the dexterous hand in-house to reduce the overall cost of humanoid robots, which will be advantageous for mass production.
