China Launches First Anti-Circumvention Investigation into US-Imported Optical Fiber Products
TMTPOST — China's Ministry of Commerce has initiated its first-ever anti-circumvention investigation into optical fiber products imported from the United States. The investigation aims to ensure the effectiveness of trade remedy measures, a practice commonly employed by many World Trade Organization (WTO) members. The probe was launched in response to an application from domestic optical fiber manufacturers, who provided evidence suggesting that U.S. exporters may be circumventing China's anti-dumping measures on non-dispersion-shifted single-mode optical fiber by exporting related cutoff wavelength-shifted single-mode optical fiber to China. After reviewing the application, the investigation authority determined that it met the legal requirements for initiating an anti-circumvention investigation. The authority stated that it will conduct the investigation in accordance with the law, safeguard the rights of all relevant parties, and deliver an objective and fair ruling based on the findings. This move marks a significant step in China's efforts to address potential trade violations and protect its domestic industries from unfair competition.
