Nvidia Establishes Boston Research Center to Advance Quantum Computing
TMTPOST -- Nvidia has announced the creation of a new research center in Boston, aimed at driving innovation in quantum computing through cutting-edge technologies. The Nvidia Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC) will integrate advanced quantum hardware with AI supercomputers, paving the way for accelerated quantum supercomputing. The NVAQC will focus on addressing some of the most pressing challenges in quantum computing, including qubit noise and the transformation of experimental quantum processors into practical, scalable devices. By combining Nvidia's expertise in AI and supercomputing with quantum technologies, the center aims to accelerate breakthroughs in the field. Leading quantum computing innovators such as Quantinuum, Quantum Machines, and QuEra Computing will collaborate with the NVAQC, alongside researchers from prestigious institutions like the Harvard Quantum Initiative in Science and Engineering (HQI) and the Engineering Quantum Systems (EQuS) group at MIT. “Quantum computing will augment AI supercomputers to tackle some of the world’s most important problems, from drug discovery to materials development,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “Working with the wider quantum research community to advance CUDA-quantum hybrid computing, the NVIDIA Accelerated Quantum Research Center is where breakthroughs will be made to create large-scale, useful, accelerated quantum supercomputers.” The establishment of the NVAQC underscores Nvidia’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of quantum computing and fostering collaboration across academia and industry. By leveraging its expertise in AI and supercomputing, Nvidia aims to play a pivotal role in unlocking the transformative potential of quantum technologies.
