China and Russia Are “Friends Forever, Never Enemies,” Says Beijing’s Foreign Minister
TMTPOST -- During his visit to Moscow, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed the strong and enduring relationship between China and Russia, declaring that the two nations are "friends forever, never enemies."
Wang emphasized that this principle serves as a robust legal foundation for advancing their strategic cooperation to new heights.
Wang Yi is currently in Moscow for a three-day visit, where he is expected to hold discussions with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, and meet with President Vladimir Putin.
The statement comes ahead of the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, just days before which China and Russia announced a “no limits” strategic partnership. Despite this alignment, Beijing has maintained a neutral stance regarding the ongoing conflict.
On the possibility of peace, Wang stressed the importance of a "fair, long-term, binding peace agreement" that would be acceptable to all parties involved. He also praised the normalization of relations between Russia and the US, dismissing claims that former President Donald Trump had sought to support Moscow as a means to disrupt China-Russia ties.
