60% of Americans Disapprove of U.S. Government’s Tariff Policies, Latest Poll
TMTPOST – A recent poll conducted by the Associated Press and the University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research Center (NORC) reveals that nearly 60% of Americans disapprove of how the U.S. government is handling tariffs and trade negotiations amid escalating trade disputes with multiple countries.
The survey, published on March 31, also highlights shifting opinions within the Republican Party. While Republican respondents generally support former President Donald Trump’s policies, their approval of his trade strategies has declined. Around 30% of Republican respondents expressed disapproval of Trump’s trade policies, compared to only 10% who disapproved of his immigration reforms.
The findings indicate growing concerns among Americans regarding the economic impact of current tariff policies and trade relations.
