Gree Chairwoman Dong Mingzhu Wins Re-election, Poised to Begin Fifth Term at the Helm
TMTPOST — Dong Mingzhu has been re-elected to the board of Gree Electric Appliances, paving the way for her to begin a fifth consecutive term as chairwoman of the Chinese home appliance giant. All board nominees were approved during a special shareholders’ meeting held on Monday, according to a statement from the company. Dong, who has led Gree for over a decade, remains a central figure in the company’s strategic direction and brand identity. Her reappointment signals continued stability in Gree’s leadership amid rising competition in the consumer electronics and smart appliance sectors. Two new non-independent directors were also elected: Vice President Shu Lizhi and Chief Engineer and Assistant to the President Zhong Chengbao. All proposed candidates for both non-independent and independent directors were approved. In addition to the board elections, shareholders also approved a mid-year dividend plan for 2024, with the company distributing 10 yuan (pre-tax) per 10 shares.
