Senate’s All-Night Vote-a-Rama on Trump’s Domestic Policy Bill Drags Into Tuesday
TMTPOST -- The Senate’s marathon voting session on U.S. President Donald Trump’s sweeping domestic policy bill stretched into the early hours of Tuesday, following a weekend of negotiations and delays.
The so-called “vote-a-rama”—a prolonged series of amendment votes, both symbolic and substantive—kicked off around 9:35 a.m. ET Monday and was still underway as of early Tuesday morning.
The session allows Republicans to make last-minute changes to the legislation, while Democrats are using the opportunity to force tough votes on politically sensitive issues that could resurface in campaign ads
“We’re close,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters around 4:30 a.m. ET, noting that only “a few amendment votes” remained before final passage. However, Thune did not specify how many votes were left, and a final vote has yet to be scheduled.
