Paramount Settles Trump Lawsuit Over 60 Minutes Interview for $16 Million
TMTPOST -- Paramount Global (PARA) has reached a $16 million settlement with U.S. President Donald Trump over a lawsuit alleging election interference by its CBS News network, the company announced Wednesday.
The suit centered on CBS airing two different versions of a 60 Minutes interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris in October. Trump had sought $20 billion in damages. Under the settlement, no money will be paid to Trump directly; the funds will cover legal fees and support a future presidential library.
The agreement includes no formal apology from the network. However, CBS has committed to releasing full transcripts of presidential candidate interviews going forward. While the deal is officially unrelated, it’s seen as a key step toward easing regulatory approval of Paramount’s proposed merger with Skydance Media.
