Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Meets MiniMax Founder Yan Junjie During China Visit
TMTPOST — Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang met with MiniMax founder Yan Junjie in Beijing following his appearance at the China International Supply Chain Expo, according to Tencent Technology. The two reportedly held an in-depth conversation for nearly two hours at the Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, the hotel where Huang is staying during his trip. Photos circulating online show the same background as those taken during Huang’s meeting with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun last Sunday, suggesting the same venue was used for both encounters. Yan, who previously served as vice president at SenseTime, founded MiniMax at the end of 2021 with a firm focus on artificial general intelligence (AGI) and multimodal AI architectures. His meeting with Huang comes amid renewed momentum in China's large model sector. After a brief lull following the delayed release of DeepSeek's R2 model, the industry has seen a resurgence. Teams such as Kimi have drawn widespread attention by sharing dense technical updates on X and unveiling their Kimi K2 model with a striking 1-trillion-parameter scale. Huang’s engagement with Yan underscores Nvidia’s sustained interest in China’s rapidly evolving AI ecosystem, even as geopolitical and regulatory headwinds mount.
