Turkey's Antitrust Regulator Launches Investigation into Google
The Turkish competition authority has announced a new round of antitrust investigations into Google. Despite previously being penalized and adjusting its policies due to issues related to its Android operating system agreements, the investigation has revealed that Google is still guiding manufacturers to sign optional agreements through financial incentives, which effectively ensures the pre-installation and default status of its search component and browser. Additionally, the anti-trust agency will examine restrictive clauses that prevent the development of forked systems and the developer verification process. This initiative aims to assess whether Google continues to evade regulation and undermine competition in the mobile market through its new contract structures.
