Tencent, Tesla Launch Two Cabin Features: WeChat Connectivity and Destination Services
Chinese tech giant Tencent and U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla have jointly upgraded the vehicle cabin by introducing two new features: "WeChat Connectivity" and "Destination Services." These features will be rolled out through OTA updates to over one million China's domestic Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, with new cars to come pre-equipped with them. WeChat Connectivity, based on Tencent's interconnectivity capabilities, enables seamless transfer of location information between the phone and the vehicle's system. Users can easily send their WeChat location card or third-party map POI (Points of Interest) information to the car's system and navigate directly to the destination, enhancing travel efficiency. Destination Services focuses on intelligent travel scenarios. When users navigate to locations like coffee shops, restaurants, or scenic spots, the system will automatically trigger nearby services. Users can access business mini-programs via mobile push notifications or by scanning a QR code from the passenger seat, allowing for instant orders, reservations, and ticket purchases.
