Tencent Acquires Stake in Brain-Computer Interface Developer Nanochap
TMTPOST — Tencent has taken a stake in Hangzhou-based Nanochap Electronics Co., Ltd., a company focused on brain-computer interface and neurobiological chip technology, according to a recent business registration change. Shanghai Qishan Investment, a Tencent subsidiary, became a new shareholder. The company’s registered capital increased to RMB 16.8853 million (approximately $2.35 million). Nanochap, founded in 2014, specializes in integrated circuit design, biomedical equipment development, and related technical services. This investment signals Tencent’s growing interest in the brain-computer interface sector. It strengthens Nanochap’s position to advance research, production, and commercialization of neural chips. The partnership is expected to accelerate innovation in neurotechnology applications and support broader ecosystem development in AI hardware and medical devices in China.
