AntGroup Secretly Testing Reengineered Alipay App with Native AI Interface
TMTPOST — Financial technology firm Ant Group Co., Ltd. is conducting internal trials of an artificial intelligence-driven edition of its flagship Alipay application, according to market reports. The unreleased software version represents a structural overhaul of the platform’s traditional user interface, introducing a single-tap mechanism that transitions users into a native AI environment designed to automate daily transactions and wealth management.
According to people familiar with the matter, the integrated digital assistant is provisionally code-named "Abao" within the technology firm. Under the updated software architecture, users can deploy text or voice commands to direct the conversational AI to arrange ride-hailing services, order food delivery, or purchase beverages. Furthermore, upon receiving explicit user authorization, the digital assistant can execute specialized financial management workflows, including purchasing mutual funds and balancing personal investment portfolios.
Ant Group has declined to comment on the unreleased software or provide an official commercial launch timeline. Industry analysts view the internal test as a significant operational push by the digital payment network to transition from a browsing-centric interface toward a conversational commerce model, escalating competition among Chinese internet platforms to define next-generation digital consumer portals.
