Goertek Dynaudio Partners With IMAX to Build Immersive In-Car Entertainment
TMTPOST — Smart acoustics joint venture Goertek Dynaudio [Goerdanana] partnered with theater technology pioneer IMAX on Thursday to co-develop the world’s first integrated IMAX-certified in-vehicle cinematic entertainment system.
The strategic technical partnership, co-signed by New York-listed parent company IMAX Corporation and its Hong Kong-listed subsidiary IMAX China, plans to commercialize the initial physical setups by late 2026. The co-developed system combines a customized, high-dynamic-range acoustics layout designed by Goertek Dynaudio with a folding 4K HDR display and lightweight wearable virtual-reality displays certified to reproduce native theatrical conditions inside premium passenger cabin architectures. Both enterprises will co-promote the hardware package directly to luxury electric vehicle manufacturers across the Chinese mainland to secure early supply chain integration contracts.
Car buyers on the Chinese mainland now treat passenger cabins as mobile living rooms, making premium audio-visual suites a key battleground for electric vehicle brands seeking to escape brutal price wars. To stand out, premium automakers are bypassing generic component suppliers to co-develop exclusive, branded theatrical systems. This shift allows tier-one acoustic developers to lock in higher-margin supply contracts, while providing domestic EV brands with the high-status badges needed to defend their luxury pricing.
