China Debuts Domestically Built 100,000-Card AI Supercluster
TMTPOST — The Shuguang 8000 (Dengfeng), China’s first fully domestically produced 100,000-card AI supercluster, made its global debut on Thursday at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. It was named one of the “crown jewels” of the event. The system employs a super-intelligence fusion architecture and natively supports full-precision computing from FP64 to INT8, enabling applications across scientific computing, large model training and inference, and industrial simulation. Built with integrated capabilities in chips, computing, storage, networking, cooling, applications, and services, the cluster has been connected to the national computing power network via the National Supercomputing Internet, offering services to research institutions, enterprises, and developers. As Beijing pushes for technological self-reliance in critical infrastructure, the public unveiling of the Shuguang 8000 highlights accelerating progress in domestically controlled high-performance computing. The system’s ability to handle diverse workloads from scientific simulation to frontier AI training positions it as a strategic asset in China’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign technology while expanding accessible national computing capacity for both research and industrial use.
