Ant International Secures $1.2 Billion Series A Financing to Scale Global Payments Network
TMTPOST — Digital financial technology provider Ant International closed a Series A equity funding round of approximately $1.2 billion on Tuesday to drive cross-border payment innovations and overseas business expansion.
The landmark capital injection included participation from existing shareholders Ant Group and Alibaba Group, alongside a syndicate of major global institutional investors. Proceeds from the financing will fund international expansion, accelerate artificial intelligence integration across its core technical infrastructure, and scale financial tools across international merchant networks. Operating across four key divisions—Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst, and Bettr—the company plans to expand cross-border interoperability and treasury services for small and medium-sized enterprises across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Cross-border payment flows between emerging markets and global commercial hubs are increasingly demanding unified, low-latency financial settlement networks. Fragmented clearing systems, variable foreign exchange risk, and localized compliance mandates present substantial operational overhead for small-scale merchants trading internationally. Independent fintech spin-offs backed by established e-commerce ecosystems are utilizing deep capital reserves to build standardized digital infrastructure and expand multi-currency merchant processing across diverse regulatory jurisdictions.
