HiDream.ai Secures 1.5 Billion Yuan Series C Round to Accelerate Multimodal AI Development
TMTPOST — Foundational model innovator HiDream.ai completed a 1.5 billion yuan ($207 million) Series C financing round on Wednesday, securing substantial backing from state-backed guidance funds, financial institutions, and strategic media investors. The landmark funding round was co-led by the Social Security Fund Sichuan Revitalization Science and Innovation Fund, ICBC Capital, Hongyi Asset Management, and Dunhong Capital. A broad consortium of new institutional investors participated in the round—including Xiamen ITG Capital, Shanghai Film New Horizon Fund, Hubei Changjiang Industry Investment Group, Zhejiang Huace Film & TV, Hangyuan Capital, Chuangyunhai Capital, Huafu Investment, Yuhang Financial Holdings, Bank of Communications Capital, and Ruosong Fund—alongside oversubscribed allocations from existing shareholders Hefei Industry Investment, Orient Fortune Capital, GP Capital, and Jinhua Gold Investment. Proceeds from the financing will be directed toward scaling continuous compute infrastructure, advancing multimodal generative foundation models, and deepening commercial partnerships across digital media, entertainment, and industrial design sectors. Targeted investments into specialized generative AI startups reflect a broader strategic shift among institutional capital toward vertically integrated multimodal foundation models. Rather than funding broad general-purpose conversational models, state guidance funds and media conglomerates are prioritizing domain-adapted visual and video generation platforms capable of immediate commercial deployment. The massive capital injection into HiDream.ai highlights how top-tier generative startups are using consortium-led financing to insulate against rising compute costs and establish entrenched distribution channels across enterprise creative industries.
