Active Tech Raises 330 Million Yuan Angel Round for Invasive BCI
TMTPOST — Shanghai Active Technology completed a 330 million yuan ($45.8 million) angel-round financing on August 3 to advance invasive brain-computer interface products.
CAS Star led the round, with participation from Lenovo Star, Joy Capital, Daotong Investment, Inno Angel Fund, BGI Songhe Life Science Fund, Jiufeng Capital and Jiadao Capital. Proceeds will expand facilities, upgrade equipment, accelerate clinical trials and enlarge the team, driving the clinical translation and industrial rollout of the company’s invasive BCI systems. Active Tech focuses on implantable neural interfaces designed to restore motor or sensory function for patients with severe neurological impairments such as spinal-cord injury or stroke-related paralysis.
The financing arrives amid rapid policy and capital support for brain-computer interfaces in China, where Shanghai has emerged as a key cluster hosting dozens of startups spanning invasive, semi-invasive and non-invasive approaches. Multiple Chinese firms have already advanced into human trials or obtained regulatory clearances for related devices, underscoring the sector’s shift from laboratory research toward clinical and commercial application.
