Nvidia Seeks Chinese Partners for 6G AI Base Stations
TMTPOST — Nvidia is seeking Chinese base-station manufacturers to co-develop 6G AI-RAN systems that combine wireless connectivity with on-site AI computing, with trial networks targeted for 2027 or 2028. Industry sources say the chipmaker is accelerating entry into the telecom-operator market by pairing its CUDA software stack and GPUs with Chinese radio hardware optimized for overseas deployment. Shenzhen-based Jiaxian Communications is one confirmed partner; the two sides have been collaborating for more than six months since initial contact in 2025 and are now in technical development, with a prototype expected by year-end and potential joint commercial vehicles for global sales. The initiative positions Nvidia to extend its compute franchise from centralized data centers into distributed edge networks, where base stations would handle both traffic and AI workloads for the growing population of AI-enabled terminals. Chinese manufacturers already dominate global 5G hardware production, giving Nvidia a cost-competitive path to scale the next generation of intelligent radio access networks.
