China ETF Assets Near 5 Trillion Yuan Mark
TMTPOST — Exchange-traded fund assets in China approached the 5 trillion yuan threshold, according to Wind data cited by Securities Daily on Tuesday.
As of Aug. 10, total ETF assets under management rose 253.4 billion yuan in the second half to 4.99 trillion yuan, while shares outstanding increased 374.2 billion units to 3.4 trillion. Forty-eight new ETFs were launched in the period, lifting the product count to 1,629. Finance-themed funds recorded the largest share gains, with 31 products tracking the sector; semiconductor materials and equipment indices saw the biggest share inflows, and gold-stock indices delivered the highest returns.
Broad-based products led scale expansion, with funds tracking the CSI A500, CSI 300, STAR 50 and CSI 1000 indices each adding more than 300 billion yuan. Gold commodity and related equity ETFs also attracted sustained inflows amid persistent overseas inflation expectations and demand for hedges. Eleven index categories posted gains exceeding 100 billion yuan in the half-year period.
