Beijing Service Robot Output Surges 2.3 Times in First Half
TMTPOST — Beijing’s service-robot production rose 2.3 times year on year in the first half of 2026, Mayor Yin Yong said at the opening of the World Robot Conference on Wednesday.
Industrial-robot output increased 76 percent over the same period. The city has established a RMB 10 billion high-end industry investment fund for robotics that has attracted more than RMB 53 billion in social capital. Beijing now hosts nearly 1,000 robot companies and leads the nation with seven new embodied-intelligence unicorns.
Yin said the capital has built an embodied intelligent robot innovation center and five new research institutions, generating breakthroughs in robot bodies, open-source brains and dexterous hands. It has also completed the layout of 14 key humanoid-robot components and established complete-machine contract manufacturing lines with annual capacity of 20,000 units.
