JD.com Plans 100,000 Robot Maintenance Jobs Over Five Years
TMTPOST — JD.com intends to create more than 100,000 robot after-sales service engineer positions over the next five years as part of a broader robotics strategy unveiled at the 2026 World Robot Conference. The company will also establish after-sales capabilities covering more than 100 countries and build 80 RoboBase centers that provide full-lifecycle services including demonstration, delivery, maintenance, R&D, pilot assembly, data collection and manufacturing upgrades. JD.com already partners with more than 200 robot brands through its self-operated model and has expanded overseas cooperation via its Joybuy platform in Europe. The initiative forms one pillar of JD’s plan to invest hundreds of billions of yuan in robotics resources by 2028 and help 100 brands each surpass RMB 1 billion in independent sales. The company has previously trained thousands of robot maintenance engineers and launched rapid-response “robot ambulance” services in major Chinese cities.
