Baidu’s Apollo Go Begins Hong Kong Station Shuttle Road Tests
TMTPOST — Baidu’s autonomous-driving platform Apollo Go has started road tests for a shuttle service linking Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and the Airport Express Kowloon Station, the company and MTR Corporation said. The trials, which began Wednesday, involve four sixth-generation Apollo vehicles operating on designated routes between the high-speed rail terminus and the Airport Express station. In the initial phase the vehicles carry no passengers and a safety operator remains on board. The project holds a pilot licence issued by Hong Kong’s Transport Department. The service is intended to provide an additional transfer option for high-speed rail passengers connecting to the Airport Express for Hong Kong International Airport, supporting rail-air intermodal travel. MTR plans to introduce the commercial shuttle in the second quarter of 2027, subject to further regulatory approval, with detailed arrangements to be announced later.
