BEIJING, May 5 (TMTPOST) — Baidu’s founder and CEO Robin Li announced in an internal email that the company would start a new round of senior management team rotation.

The internal email says that Baidu’s executive vice president Shen Dou will head the company’s AI Cloud Group (ACG). Jackson He will be promoted to the senior vice president of the group and serve as the rotating head of the Baidu Mobile Ecosystem Group (MEG). Wang Heifeng will continue to serve as Executive Vice President and CTO of the Group and will no longer serve as head of ACG.

The most important organizational adjustment is the appointment of a new head of the Baidu ACG. The company said that Shen will be leading the ACG team to accelerate the implementation of the company’s AI+Cloud strategy and achieve breakthroughs in both quantity and quality. Baidu is hoping to drive its development with ACG.

Wang joined Baidu in January 2010 and later established a number of technical departments for the company, including the department of natural language processing, department of personalization and recommendation engine, department of multimedia and department of image search. In 2013, Wang helped establish the Institute of Deep Learning of Baidu as the executive head. Later in October, Wang was promoted to Baidu’s vice president. In 2014, Wang transferred to the search business group and headed projects such as Baidu search and Baidu search mobile, etc.

In early 2017, Wang started to play a more prominent role in Baidu’s technological development as the company’s chief scientist Andrew Ng resigned from Baidu. Wang was appointed as the head of Baidu’s AIG, a group that focused on natural language processing, speech and big data, etc. Wang was also promoted and became a member of Baidu’s Estaff, which is the company’s highest decision-making body.
